Nola is an ace because he not only can pitch well against good teams, but has proven it by actually doing it. The Phillies righty is not only worthy of a big contract extension as a true ace, but the team needs him fronting their rotation over the next half-dozen years.
Rob Thomson finally gets his shot
Well, those who wanted manager Joe Girardi to pay with his head, or at least his job, finally got their wish. On Friday, the Phillies announced that Girardi had been let go. His replacement, at least on an interim basis, is bench coach Rob Thomson.
